Koh Samui Airport
Koh Samui Airport is a unique and highly
successful experiment in building an airport that is kind
to both the cultural and natural environments of a
tropical island resort. Flying in, you get brief glimpses
of outlying islands, streaks of surf, the wakes of small
fishing craft sketched across the calm aquamarine sea.
Smudges of coral reef dapple the water as you come in
closer still. Then the coast of Samui appears. Two
hundred and fifty kilometres of tropical hideaway
scalloped by dozens of bays rimmed in white sand,
carpeted in lush textures of forested hill and coconut
grove, Koh Samui is the centrepiece in a group of 80 other
islands set in the Gulf of Thailand.
Bangkok Airways operate up to 15, eighty minute, flights per day on
the Bangkok to Samui route and 4, ninety minute, flights per week on the
new Samui to Singapore route.
Thai Airways have also
recently started flying to Koh Samui.
THAI’s Boeing 737-400 aircraft, capable
of carrying 149 passengers (12 on Royal Silk Class / 137 on Economy Class) will
start the twice daily service on 15 February, 2008. The schedule will be:
